Loose motion for 8 years boy
My son had fever and a urine infection earlier. He was given Taxim-O for a week before the circumcision. After the surgery, he was prescribed Amoxicillin and Ibuprofen syrup. Later, he complained of gastritis, so we were advised to give Laprazole before food whenever required. On the 4th day after surgery, he developed high fever along with diarrhea, and he also has throat pain while swallowing. The pediatrician mentioned that diarrhea could be due to the antibiotics and prescribed antibiotics for diarrhea then prebiotic syrup as well. His throat looks red, but he does not have any symptoms of cold. I just wanted to confirm whether the throat pain could also be related to acidity or antibiotic effects rather than a cold. Could you please advise if we should continue the same medicines or if anything additional is needed?

Hello From what you’ve shared, it seems your son’s throat pain may not necessarily be from a cold it can sometimes occur as a result of acidity, antibiotic irritation, or general post-infection sensitivity. Diarrhea and gastric discomfort are also common after multiple courses of antibiotics. At this stage it’s best not to add or change any medicines without a proper examination. I’d recommend consulting me personally so I can review his symptoms, assess whether the throat pain is due to acidity, infection, or medicine side effects, and then guide you safely with a suitable, gentle approach. Kindly ensure he stays well-hydrated and avoid any self-medication until a detailed evaluation is done.

Hello. Loose motion and throat pain after antibiotic use are quite common in children, as antibiotic can disturb the normal gut flora and may also cause acidity or irritation in throat. The throat pain can also be due to acidity or irritation, not necessarily a cold. In homoeopathy, a constitutional homeopathic treatment aims at correcting the root cause and the improving the overall natural immunity of the child. However, it is important to check the child in person to confirm the exact cause and decide if any further treatment is needed. Make sure the child stays well-hydrated and takes light, easily digestible foods. Probiotics rich foods can help restore gut balance. Hello! From what you’ve described, your son’s throat pain and diarrhea seem to have developed after a course of multiple antibiotics, which can indeed disturb the stomach and intestinal flora, leading to gastritis, acidity, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea. The throat irritation can sometimes be related to acidity or post-antibiotic irritation, not necessarily an infection or cold — especially if there’s no nasal congestion, cough, or fever recurrence. In homeopathy, we often see that after antibiotics or surgery, the body’s balance can be temporarily disturbed. Gentle medicines can help restore digestion and immunity. Remedies like Nux vomica (for gastritis or acidity from medicines) or Arsenicum album (for post-antibiotic weakness or diarrhea) are sometimes considered, but these must be prescribed only after proper case evaluation.
Next Steps
Continue the medicines advised by your pediatrician. Ensure your child is well hydrated. Give light, non-spicy food. You may consult a qualified homeopath for supportive treatment to improve digestion and immunity once his acute phase settles. If the fever persists, throat pain worsens, or diarrhea increases, please follow up with your pediatrician promptly.

Yes, the pediatrician is right. As he already been taking the prescribed medicines there is no need of any changes. But you should also be aware of the fact that just prescribing medicine will not make him symptoms free immediately. The body will take some time to recover. To adjust the normal biological functions of the body. During this time he needs to eat healthy, follow healthy regimen, and avoid over medications. If the symptoms persist for longer time or increase in intensity after all this then consult the doctor again for further advise.

Throat pain could be mostly due to gastritis only.... Its common senerio after taking antibiotic.. My opinion is to continue antibiotic, healing of penis is most important otherwise chance to get infection and scar formation which complicate him later. Once his wound is heeled stop all allopathic medications and better to take Homoeopathy to regain his immunity and correct his stomach and throat....

Hi, I understand your concern. After circumcision, children often receive multiple antibiotics, and it is quite common for the stomach and throat to get affected due to the medicines rather than an infection. From your description: ✅ Loose motions – This is very likely due to antibiotic-associated diarrhea, because antibiotics disturb gut flora. ✅ Throat pain with red throat – This can happen from: • acidity/gastritis caused by antibiotics or ibuprofen • dryness due to fever • mild irritation, not necessarily a cold It does not sound like a cold, especially since there is no cough, no runny nose, and no congestion. Since your pediatrician has already evaluated him and started treatment, it is important to: • Continue the prescribed medicines as advised • Ensure good hydration (ORS, coconut water, soups) • Continue the prebiotic/probiotic syrup—this is important for settling the stomach • Give meals that are soft and easy on digestion If the fever persists beyond 48 hours, diarrhea becomes very frequent, he refuses to eat/drink, or throat pain worsens, please get him re-examined once. Children can get dehydrated quickly, so monitoring is important. If you need further clarification, feel free to ask. I’m here to help.

It’s quite common for children to develop gastritis, throat irritation, or diarrhea after multiple courses of antibiotics, especially around surgery. These symptoms are often due to disturbed gut flora and acidity, not necessarily a new throat infection. You can continue the present medicines as advised. Give Laprazole syrup before food for 3–5 days, maintain a light, non-spicy diet, encourage plenty of fluids, and include curd or prebiotic supplements to restore intestinal balance. In homeopathy, we focus on improving digestion, reducing antibiotic-related gastric sensitivity, and strengthening overall immunity so that such reactions don’t recur. Individualized remedies like Nux vomica, Pulsatilla, or Arsenicum album (based on the child’s exact symptoms and constitution) help restore natural balance and recovery without side effects. Since your son recently had surgery and recurrent antibiotic exposure, I’d recommend an online homeopathic consultation to assess his constitution and prescribe a personalized remedy plan that supports his stomach, throat, and immunity naturally. You can easily book an online video consultation through Practo for further evaluation and guidance. Regards Health Global Homoeopathy, Vijaynagar, Bangalore www.healthglobalclinics.com
