I understand your concern about your lipoprotein(a) level. Here’s a breakdown of your results: Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)): Your level of 61.79 mg/dL is higher than the normal range (less than 30 mg/dL). Elevated Lp(a) is a genetic risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes12. It’s important to discuss this with me for a comprehensive risk assessment and potential management strategies. Cholesterol: A total cholesterol level of 222 mg/dL is above the desirable range (less than 200 mg/dL). High cholesterol can contribute to the buildup of plaques in your arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease2. Lipase: Your lipase level of 93 U/L is within the normal range (0-160 U/L)3. This enzyme helps in the digestion of fats, and elevated levels can indicate pancreatic issues, but your level seems normal. High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP): A level of 1.27 mg/L is considered low risk for cardiovascular disease (less than 1 mg/L is low risk, 1-3 mg/L is average risk, and above 3 mg/L is high risk)1. SGOT (AST): Your SGOT level of 44 U/L is slightly above the normal range (10-40 U/L). Elevated levels can indicate liver or muscle damage2. Triglycerides: It’s good to hear that your triglycerides are in the normal range, as high levels can also increase the risk of heart disease2. Given your gastrointestinal issues and the elevated Lp(a) and cholesterol levels, it’s crucial to follow up with me. I may recommend lifestyle changes, medications, or further tests to manage your cardiovascular risk and address your gastrointestinal symptoms. Is there anything specific you’d like to discuss further or any other concerns you have?
