You don't need to wear a neck collar while sleeping.Follow your doctor's advice. If you don't get any relief ,he may ask for a MRI to determine the exact cause of your neck pain and its treatment including physiotherapy.
Opinion:
Spinal cord compression can be a serious condition, and it's important to follow your doctor's advice regarding wearing a neck collar. The collar is typically prescribed to provide support and restrict movement in order to alleviate pressure on the spinal cord and promote healing.
Next steps:
1. Follow your doctor's recommendations: Wearing the neck collar as prescribed by your doctor is important for providing stability and support to the affected area. It can help reduce symptoms and prevent further damage to the spinal cord.
2. Seek further evaluation: Spinal cord compression can have various causes, such as herniated discs, bone spurs, or tumors. Your doctor may recommend further evaluation, such as MRI or CT scans, to determine the underlying cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
3. Take precautions while sleeping: It's advisable to wear the neck collar while sleeping if your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so. This will help maintain proper alignment and prevent any accidental movements that could worsen the compression.
4. Follow up with your doctor: Regular follow-up appointments with your doctor are important to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. They will assess your symptoms, review imaging results, and determine the most appropriate course of action.
Remember, spinal cord compression can have varying degrees of severity and treatment options depend on the underlying cause. It's important to communicate any concerns or new symptoms to your doctor and follow their guidance for the best possible outcome.
