swelling related to a decayed tooth should not be ignored as it could be sudden spread of infection. associating it with pain or waiting for pain to occur can lead to further damage in the process. consult omf surgeon asap
Next Steps
get yourself evaluated preferably with an xray if there are no contraindications to the same

Looks like there's a infection in ur tooth due to deeper cavity extending upto living part of tooth called puLp/nerve, U will have to get RCT done to save the tooth and get relief from symptoms.
Next Steps
Visit dentist and get the x-ray done.

U probably have a cavity that looks small from the outside but extending into the roots etc.. go for a dental x Ray.. to confirm what's happening to your tooth

Absence of pain does not always indicate absence of disease. If there is a cavity, it will require objective treatment by the dentist whether it is a simple filling or root canal treatment or even extraction in the worst case. Please do not wait for the symptoms to appear (all the presence of swelling is also a worrisome symptom) and consult a dentist as soon as possible so that the right diagnosis can be established. The right treatment plan can be suggested after the right diagnosis. Regards.
