Knowing about the progression of tmd

How can a patient with tmd (tmj disorder) can decide whether his treatments (splint therapy and orthodontic treatment with braces) for tmd improving his condition or making it worse? I am really confused about it. Please help.

Hello ! TMD is a complex group of disorders that requires a efficient and detailed diagnosis to narrow down to the disorder you're suffering from. Protocol for treatment of TMD is long , tedious and requires full Cooperation of the patient and the dentist. Usually physical therapy supplemented with medicinal treatment can be started initially. If there is no relief patient can be put on splint therapy and occlusion can be adjusted. Symptoms need to be observed keenly and by elimination protocol we move ahead. As a patient , it's very frustrating and one needs to give it time.

for a TMD patient , one needs to take less stress, be calm , take hot formentation and perform jaw muscle exercises as prescribed by dentist .
