Popping sound can occur due to meniscus tear (tear in the cartilage of knee) or may also occur after a ligament tear. Overuse injuries can also cause knee popping sound.
Next Steps
You need to strengthen your knee with exercises, stretches along with this you always need to warmup prior to any physical activity. you can visit a Physiotherapist for exercises.
Health Tips
ice your knee for 20-30 mins every 2 to 3 hours to lessen the pain and swelling. wear a knee brace to stabilize and to protect it from further injury.
