Knee pain from running
I used to run for about 4-5 kms and do some basic home workout for 5 days a week since last 8 months... But 10 days ago while running I suddenly felt pain in my outer upper portion of left knees so I stopped running. I came back home. I applied ice pack on my knee and some balm and I discontinued running for 10 days as I felt my body needed rest. In these 10 days I never ran, did no workout just some little stretching that's all. And my knee was fine it never hurt. So I went to run today but it again started paining the moment I took my first step to run. Before it I walked for like 10 minutes and properly warmed myself up. Now I am back home my knee is again fine. Why does it only hurt while running. What should I do? Can someone suggest me anything?

Quadriceps exercise Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Knee joint is surrounded by muscles and ligaments...since the first time you felt the pain you rested it out but the root cause might not be resolved that comes with faster and jerky movement like running.... please consult online to evaluate you and give you appropriate treatment plan

Ur complaint looks like excessive Iliotibial band tightness. Which is pulling Ur knee cap outwards while u r loading/running. Do foam roller release for Outside of ur thighs. And quads and hams stretches regularly.

You need to get it assessed if this is itb band stiffness or patella femoral syndrome.

Due to stress and overuse of muscles, it gives you pains. Take Proper rest at night and you need to tske calcium rich diet. Do warm up and situps before starting running. Knee stretching and strengthening exercises will help 9vercome knee pain. Take a break after running for 3kms and again start untill you feel you can run for continuos 5kms.

Hi , your problem looks like a tight iliotibial band , which while running is posing undue stress on your knee. So you need to get that fixed first . You need to release and stretch the IT band.

You  need an assessment. Some possible issues could be patellofemoral dysfunction, tightness of ITB, issues with flat feet, reduced hip rotation, reduced glut strength.... The cause needs to be understood and a suitable  treatment will then be provided
