Knee pain
Dear Doc, for past 2 years I have knee problem, last year I consulted doc, he prescribed a pain killer and asked me to do some exercises, I was not satisfied and used for 3 days and I stopped taking pain killer. I still feel abnormal, can't able to stand for more time. So day before yesterday I have consulted an ortho Doctor and he said at the age of 26 you should not have such knee pains and I got blood test done , RA factor and Vitamin d3 showed abnormal values. I have started medication 3days ago as per my ortho. What step shall I take next. Only medicines and exercise or shall I get some any other bone scans or any other tests to be done ? Kindly suggest

your treatment is going on right way. Do Ask your physio for long tearm goal exercise and home exercise program  that will help decrease your pain reocurence. Exercise will improve muscle strength  and tranfer weight of body in the  " line of gravity" to the knee then to the ground. This will improve your daily living activity like walking, runing, staircase and long tearm standing or sitting in one position as per your working pattern. Discuss your physio to design exercise as per your life style and requirement.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Clinical examination is very important.  RA test being positive doesn't mean you have RA. It is rare in males. MRI may aid in diagnosis. Treatment for RA means taking medication for many months. Clinical improvement will come after weeks of treatment.  If in doubt get a second opinion.
