IT band pain
I am suffering from pain at lateral side of the knee from last 20 days. Doctors told it might be IT band as being in rest hurts the most.. somedays its better somedays it will be worst if i do more of movements or bending of my knees. One more interesting thing i observed, sometimes my knees pops and i do get an i stant relief from pain, if feels like something has been stuck in my knee in the lateral side. I am hsing the RICE method, doing basic extension to strengthen the surrounding muscles but still suffers from pain specially in the mornig time.. and the pain runs down to ankle .. please suggest

Hello, Pain on the lateral side of the knee and symptoms like popping, along with pain radiating to the ankle, are often associated with Iliotibial Band (ITB) Syndrome. While you’re already applying the RICE method and doing basic strengthening exercises, here are some additional suggestions that may help: 1. Stretching the IT Band: Perform targeted stretches for the IT band to reduce tension and improve flexibility. 2. Foam Rolling: Use a foam roller on the lateral side of your thigh to release tightness in the IT band. 3. Postural Correction: Evaluate your walking or running posture to avoid strain on the knee. 4. Strengthening Adjacent Muscles: Strengthen your glutes and hip muscles to reduce pressure on the IT band. 5. Avoid Overuse: Reduce high-impact activities like running or prolonged standing to prevent worsening the condition. The knee popping followed by temporary relief may indicate an alignment issue or tightness in the structures around the knee joint. To ensure proper recovery and prevent recurrence, I highly recommend a detailed assessment by a physiotherapist. At Modern Physio, we specialize in treating IT band-related pain and knee issues using a combination of manual therapy, advanced techniques, and customized exercises. Feel free to book a consultation for a comprehensive evaluation and tailored treatment plan. Dr. Surabhi Bansal Modern Physio Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Popping sound and knee stuck could be due to meniscal injury in the knee. You should do MRI KNEE to rule out the cause for your pain. Doing you get pain while standing or trying to extend the knee from bending to stretching?

You need to consult in person or online for proper assessment, have you gone through any tests, if yes, plz do share the reports. Doing exercises with electrotherapy will help reduce the pain but at first need to rule out the issue which is causing you trouble.

You have to rule out a nerve related pain also. Pain at rest need not be IT band syndrome
