Is there a risk of rabies
I bought a cigarette from a shop and when I smoked it after 15-20 min at some place, i found its bud wet, but the worrying part is the shopowner feed the stray dogs regulary, so my mind is visualising worst case scenarios, what if it was a dogs saliva(from his had to the bud), and theres a wound in my mouth due to wisdom tooth, so is there any concern/risk of rabies, I am really anxious ?

Sir, aap bilkul tension na lein — is situation me rabies ka risk practically zero hai. Rabies transmission tab hota hai jab infected animal ki fresh saliva direct bite/scratch ya open wound me direct contact kare. Aapke case me cigarette bud par aisa indirect contact se rabies transmit nahi hota. Virus bahar environment me zyada der survive bhi nahi karta. Jo aap soch rahe ho (dog saliva → kisi cheez par → phir aapke mouth me), is tarah se rabies nahi failta. Ye anxiety-driven thought hai, real risk nahi hai. Aap safe ho, koi vaccine ya treatment ki zarurat nahi hai. Agar anxiety zyada ho rahi hai to thoda mind divert karo, ye medically risk wali situation nahi hai

There is no risk of rabies in this situation. Rabies does not spread this way, and the virus does not survive on objects like a cigarette. Please don’t worry. If your anxiety is still bothering you, you can book a consultation so I can explain it clearly and reassure you.

Rabies is transmitted exclusively through the direct introduction of live virus from the saliva of an infected animal into the host's body via a bite, scratch, or lick on broken skin. The virus is extremely fragile and dies almost instantly once it leaves the animal's body and is exposed to sunlight, air, or a change in temperature. In clinical practice, the risk of transmission via a cigarette bud handled by a human is biologically zero."
Next Steps
Avoid Unnecessary Vaccination: As noted in the discussion, while the vaccine is safe, getting vaccinated for a 'zero-risk' encounter reinforces health anxiety. According to WHO guidelines, this is a Category I encounter (no exposure), and no treatment is indicated. Wisdom Tooth Care: Focus your attention on the actual medical issue—the wound from your wisdom tooth. Keep the area clean with warm salt-water rinses to prevent standard bacterial infection. Anxiety Management: Your "visualizing worst-case scenarios" suggests that the primary issue here is anxiety, not rabies. Consider speaking to a counselor if these intrusive thoughts about rare diseases persist.
Health Tips
your mind is playing tricks on you—biologically, this is not a rabies risk.Book a consultation for your wisdom tooth so a doctor can reassure you and help you move past this anxiety."
