Hi there, There are different drugs named under the umbrella term of SSRIs.Starting from Fluoxetine to Escitalopram. They have different half lives and side effects profiles.There are also side effects when they are withdrawn. It’s up to the treating Psychiatrist to prescribe drugs according to his experiences.Even Sertraline is used by many even now although the present generation wants to go with the latest. These are primarily Antidepressants but are also used in Anxiety disorders, Panic and many others.
