Sertaline and valerian root
I just started taking zoloft 3 days ago but i struggle to fall asleep at night, so i use a supplement containing valerian root and melatonin to help me sleep. I want to know if its ok to mix sertaline ( zoloft) with valerian root, and does it have any kind of reaction?

Insomnia is one of the side effect of Zoloft . Interaction of Zoloft and valerian root will increase the side effects of Zoloft . Using sertraline together with valerian may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. You avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving
Next Steps
There is no need of an antidepressant. You can try to shift to a holistic treatment like homeopathy and sort the issues permanently .
Health Tips
The medication you are taking will make you lethargic and dull for sure . But in the long run you will feel that the side effects are a bigger problem than the problem itself
