Insulin levels are usually on the higher side when people have conditions like PCOD, or an increase in weight.
To reduce insulin levels the two main things are modifying the diet and exercising regularly.
Diet modification includes reducing the foods that are high in saturated fat and carbohydrates. Basically means that try to reduce eating deep fried food, processed food, foods high in sugar content (pastries, chocolates, biscuits, farsaan, canned fruit juices, soft drinks etc).
Eat more home - cooked food. Include more fruits and vegetables in your diet. If you eat non veg then include more of white meat like chicken and fish and avoid red meat.
Exercise wise - minimum 30 minutes of exercise for 5 days in a week is recommended. You can start off with brisk walking or jogging. If you can include aerobic exercises and lifting weights then that would be great.
Next Steps
If you have high insulin levels, please also check for other associated conditions like thyroid and PCOD and high cholesterol. You can do a sonography of the abdomen and pelvis and do thyroid tests. Also please check your lipid profile and fasting and post lunch sugar and HbA1c as you could be pre diabetic.
Health Tips
Please avoid crash diets to lose weight. It only gives temporary results. Lifestyle changes will only help in the long run.
Hope this helps you. Wishing you good health. :)
