Hi there, Your mom's trouble with sleep is not a singular condition in itself. The thought rumination, which causes anxiety, is resulting in insomnia. Also chronic lower back pain could be a cause in itself, or a manifestation of Depression. Kindly get her a Psychiatric consultation, where the cause of the insomnia can be addressed and measures taken accordingly.

Insomnia can be caused by multiple medical, psychiatric, or psychological causes. Your mother would require a comprehensive assessment to understand the basis of insomnia. Subsequent to the assessment, plan of management can be made. Insomnia can be treated with medication and/or psychological intervention as per the assessment. Hope this helps you.
