Impacted third molar
I have an impacted third molar which is causing me severe issues, iam Constantly discomforted and under a lot of mental pressure! Dentists have prescribed me extraction , but since its close to the mamdibular nerve, they said its going to be a complex surgery not a minor one! Now my question is: Iam planning a trip abroad in coming 15 days from now, however i want to get it extracted first and then go bcs of the constant irritation, but iam also afraid that the wound won't heal & i will have eating issues etc while on vacation! What do all the specialists here suggest? Coming back and then going fr extraction or getting rid of this & going from free mind ! I have to take a decision today as i just have 15 days from today!

I would suggest you to get the extraction done after you come back because the healing process takes time and the symptoms will remain about 10 to 15 days, so you would not be able to enjoy on your vacation. Take the adviced medications from your dentist along with you. Once you come back from the procedure, then you can proceed with the extraction procedure.

Given that the extraction of your impacted third molar is considered a complex surgery due to its proximity to the mandibular nerve, it's essential to weigh the potential risks and benefits. Here are a few factors to consider: Healing Time: After the extraction, it will take time for the wound to heal and for any associated discomfort to subside. Healing times can vary from person to person, but it typically takes several days to a couple of weeks. If you choose to undergo the extraction before your trip, consider whether you'll have enough time to recover adequately. Post-Extraction Care: Following the extraction, you'll need to follow specific post-operative instructions provided by your dentist or oral surgeon. This may include dietary restrictions and maintaining oral hygiene practices to promote healing. Evaluate if you'll be able to adhere to these instructions while traveling. Potential Complications: Although complications are rare, there is always a small risk associated with any surgical procedure. This could include infection, delayed healing, or other unforeseen issues. Understanding and accepting these risks is important when making your decision. It's crucial to consult with your dentist or oral surgeon directly. They can assess your specific situation, evaluate the complexity of the extraction, and provide you with professional advice tailored to your needs. They will consider factors such as your oral health, the condition of the impacted tooth, and the potential risks involved. Ultimately, the decision is yours to make. Take into account the advice of your dental professional, the urgency of the situation, and your personal comfort level. By discussing your concerns openly with your dentist or oral surgeon, they can help guide you towards the most appropriate course of action.

Get it over and done with. Don’t procrastinate too much. Accept that it’s mandatory and not an option. Also, accept that there can be no certainty regarding how the healing will work. At least you would have taken the source of constant irritation and mental agony out of your system. Regarding your apprehension about erratic diet on vacation, you may take supplements. However it will be important to follow Oral Hygiene Instructions for uneventful healing. Get it done from a specialist and hope for the best.

Get it extracted asap

Hi *As of now get the flap removed from the top of the tooth so that the area is pain-free. *Once you come back from vacation you can get it removed. *In abroad it's very hard to get an appointment especially for the dentist.

Better to get the treatment done. Even in most surgical extraction cases, patient gets relief in 7-10 days. So Visit a local oral and Maxillofacial surgeon for physical evaluation and treatment (as required).
