Illness anxiety since last year
Hello I m facing this extreme illness anxiety since last year i get panic by any small change or minor symptoms in my body then end up googling it which even shows sever diseases like cancer which further increase anxiety.. also by small things I get panic of any infection like while getting haircut what if I cut and get hepatitis etc I was perfectly fine before but all this started since second covid wave last year after we all got covid been through many tests doctors, also been bombarded with news of diseases, been hearing illness among friends relatives for almost 2 months this has impacted my mind a lot Please guide me how to overcome this and return to my old self

It looks like there is a subconscious trigger that has happened because of so many deaths and diseases that have happened during covid. There is subconscious fear of death that we need to heal in your own system. We have to create a safe space for you to discuss this and then successfully release the fear. Hi The pandemic has created a lot of anxiety among the public. A lot of people have illness anxiety but the anxiety about health should not be too severe that it affects mental well-being. You feel anxious when you have minor symptoms. Avoid googling too much. If the equipment’s used at the barber shop are sterilised and sanitised there is nothing to worry about. Psychotherapy is an effective treatment for illness anxiety. The second wave of covid has created a lot of anxiety among the public because it was a difficult period for many people in India. You can gradually work on reducing anxiety levels about health and diseases. Having a calm and positive mindset will help. Do not worry counselling sessions will help you. You can return to your old self.

Stop using google baba..Self-diagnosis through search engines may lead to excessive worrying and anxiety, especially in people with no medical training. Research literature has associated anxiety and cyberchondria with problematic internet searching for medical information.

Then they will escalate their browsing process and start searching for information about migraine and brain tumors, and Google’s algorithms will be serving them in the results.
