I'm 27F, 5 feet tall, 73kgs, so classify as obese. I was diagnosed with PCOD when I was 14 years old but haven't done any significant tests recently to confirm it. I have tried to lose weight in every way possible but I always have failed.
So I want to consider GLP1s. I have done a little research myself but I want to do this with a specialist doctor who can monitor and prescribe. And I want to do it on video consultations.
Any help would be appreciated, thank you

. Main side effects of GLP-1 agents are pancreatitis, which is an emergency and can be associated with fatality, Thyroid tumours and worsening of undiagnosed M EN syndromes. Cost implications are important. Rapid weight loss can lead to loose skin folds which can be disfiguring and may need cosmetic treatment and plastic surgery.
GLP-1 receptor agonists are a valid and increasingly recommended option for weight management in someone with your BMI and PCOD background â PCOD causes insulin resistance which makes weight loss genuinely harder than average, and GLP-1s address exactly this mechanism. Before starting, it would be important to get updated labs including fasting insulin, blood sugar, HbA1c, thyroid, and a lipid profile to guide the right approach and dose.
Next Steps
Consult an endocrinologist or obesity medicine specialist who can review updated blood tests and prescribe GLP-1 therapy with proper monitoring. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
Hi
I have understood your concern. At 27 years, BMI around 32 , having PCOD and managing other stressors from these conditions is definitely tough. GLP-1s are really a great invention and they have got numerous benefits. But to be honest with you, the amount of weight loss that you attain while you use them will come back immediately once when you stop them .
My sincere advice would be to try with lifestyle changes, regular exercise, good sleep, stress management and diet management. If that fails and metabolic syndrome continues then to go for GLP-1's.

Health Tips
THERE WILL BE SOME SIDE EFFECTS INITIALLY BUT LATER ONCE YOU TOLERATE IT, THERE WILL BE LESS SIDE EFFECTS
AND ALSO ONCE YOU START - MOSTLY IT WILL BE LIFELONG
IF YOU STOP THAT MEDICINE AND YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SELF CONTROL, MOSTLY YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT
GLP1 has its benefits and it's side effects
One may lose weight with a low dose .. but generally the loss of weight happens with a higher dose
Along with weight loss one loses muscle also .. so one has to have an adequate work out programme to retain muscle mass
A strict diet programme with adequate protein fibre and carbohydrates has to be designed
It has its fair share of side effects .. vomiting .. nausea etc
And the weight gain post stopping the drug is for sure
Please consult an endocrinologist
Care should be exercised while using ozempic /GLP 1 agonists
as it is only a bridging measure ,
1. It is a costly drug and you require regular injections
2. It has the risk of rebound weight gain once it is stopped - if not followed by lifestyle changes
3. It has its own set of side effects also
Next Steps
you require a proper consultation before planning to start GLP1 agonists
either you visit a physician in person and get evaluated
or if you need you can contact me on practo/ 87five4564964
