How do I stop a ppi immediately? I am having acid reflux and taking ppi sompraz. Whenever I stop it, acid reflux is double, and it hurts my teeth. How do i stop it immediately? If acid reflux is double, what should i do to stop it? Why do doctors never tell about these things?

It sounds like you are experiencing rebound acid hypersecretion soon after stopping the ppi.It is a typical pattern when you try to stop using PPI after a prolonged use.You should taper the dose of PPI before completely stopping the same and simultaneously be on h2 recp. Blockers like ranitidine or famotidine for some time.However you may need to do this under the supervision of your gastroenterologist.

You can't stop it immediately in this condition. Please consult your Gastroenterologist to find out if your condition is amenable to surgery. If so, then you can stop PPI after your surgery.
