Please get yourself evaluated for cardiopulmonary causes/sleep apnea. I strongly advise caution and prompt treatment in geriatric cases. Do consult a physician near you ASAP.

I don't think it's a cardiac (heart issue) It's sleep apnea. That happens because the muscles around your neck press your windpipe while sleeping and you feel breathless. It could be cured with Homeopathy.

Sleep apnea, Orthopnea are the most likely. However if you add or reduce a symptom or two and a whole possibility of Cardiac and respiratory diagnosis opens up. In such cases it is best to get examined by a doctor near you and not rely on online consultation or online opinion.

It is essential to seek medical attention to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment. Diagnostic tests and lifestyle modifications may be necessary. Please consult a healthcare professional as soon as possible for a thorough evaluation and personalized care plan."
Next Steps

Health Tips
"Making lifestyle changes can significantly help manage symptoms of breathlessness, suffocation, and changes in heart rate during sleep. Key changes include maintaining a regular sleep schedule, creating a comfortable sleep environment, managing weight through a healthy diet and regular exercise, and practicing relaxation techniques. Avoiding alcohol, sedatives, and stimulants before bedtime can also help. Additionally, managing GERD, quitting smoking, and using a CPAP machine if diagnosed with sleep apnea can improve symptoms. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice and treatment plans."

There are several possible reasons for what you're experiencing, such as: • Sleep apnea, • Anxiety, • Cardiac issues, • Nocturnal asthma, • Obesity. A thorough medical evaluation is essential to determine the exact cause. Recommend a few diagnostic tests such as a  ECG, echocardiogram, or pulmonary function tests.
