HIV confirmatory tests typically involve testing after a window period to ensure accurate results. The window period is generally considered to be around 4-6 weeks (28-42 days) after exposure for most modern HIV tests to detect the virus reliably. However, for absolute confirmation, it’s often recommended to retest after 90 days (3 months) post-exposure, especially if initial results are negative but there’s still concern.
