Hi, yesterday i ate a pre chewed raw mango of a friend who has been infected by hiv from 2 years ago, and he is not taking any hiv antibody. i fear that i may get hiv by that way because I read the CDC article about exposure through pre chewed food. and also i read some hiv people have bleeding gum!! should i get tested for hiv ?

It is highly unlikely that you can get h i v from food but it cannot be denied completely either. However HIV will not show in your blood before 3 months if you have contracted it. There is something called post exposure prophylaxis of HIV and you have to start with a medication within 48 hours of you think you have contracted HIV. This medication will be available at HIV Centre for a r t Centre approved by government in your government hospital. Start on this medication and continue for 28 days then there will be very very less chance of you getting an HIV and after 3 months do a blood test from ictc Centre from your government hospital to confirm HIV
