You didn't mention the age of your wife. But I suppose it should be 40-45 years. At this age, a D&C and sonography are a must before we proceed further. And so many other investigations will have to be done to get an idea about general health of the patient.

Cycle length and the amount of bleeding (pads used in aday) associated symptoms. Detailed history required along with examination. Meds can be prescribed for heavy flow. Get ultrasound and LBC done .
