Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
I understand your concern. Hair fall in women can start at any age, but it is most common during late teens to 30s when hormonal changes, stress, or nutritional deficiencies show up. Dry and frizzy hair along with hair fall usually points to nutritional imbalance,
thyroid issues, stress, or post-illness recovery.
â
Advices
⢠Maintain a protein-rich diet with eggs, pulses, nuts, and green vegetables
⢠Stay hydrated and include natural oils like coconut or almond oil for hair nourishment
⢠Avoid frequent straightening, coloring, or harsh shampoos â use mild sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner
What to Monitor
⢠Amount of hair fall per day â up to 80â100 strands is considered normal, more than that needs evaluation
⢠Associated symptoms like irregular periods, acne, weight changes, or fatigue (could point to PCOS, thyroid, or
vitamin deficiency)
Management
Since you already have hair fall and frizziness, it is best to get blood tests for thyroid,
Vitamin D,
Vitamin B12, and iron profile. Nutritional supplements and topical lotions can be prescribed after confirming the cause.
When to Consult a Doctor Immediately
⢠If scalp shows bald patches or visible thinning
⢠If hair fall worsens rapidly in a short time
⢠If you have other symptoms like fatigue, menstrual irregularities, or sudden weight change
Every patientâs cause of hair fall is different. For correct treatment, I will need to review your scalp condition.
ð Please upload a clear photo of your scalp so I can check the pattern and advise targeted treatment.
