Hi. Let's get facts clear. At the age of 53yrs,we need to see how your joint is. If there is a pre existing symptomatic arthritis, ACL reconstruction is not advisable. However if the joint is clean & you have a demand for leading an active life that includes running, dancing etc, then acl reconstruction is the option. Actual result depends on the expertise of your surgeon, luck, fate & god:)

Grade 3 is complete tear where reconstruction is essential to restore functional stability of the knee so that patients can return to their desired work and activities.Physiotherapy will help u releive pain but instability persist. In young and active pateints, surgery is the best option, but after 50 its more controversial due to other complication. First let ur surgeon decide whether u r fit for surgery or not. it will depend upon ur health status including hypertension, diabetes, ur heart status and other associated factors. If its yes from his side then u can decide depending upon 1.How much knee instability u have, whether u r able to do ur routine daily work without problem. 2.What level of activities u want in future especially ur bharatnatyam. 3.How much time u want to spend performing such activities. 4.Do u want to return in participating sport and activities u used to in ur 30s. Acl reconstruction, usually is successful surgey, and if not done it can lead to early osteoarthritis. Finally I think Age is not a number it's an attitude. So u decide on, what kind of life u want ahead and at which age u want to live.

It is suitable but firstly you can go for a conservative management. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

Hello... To surgically repair the ACL and restore knee stability, the ligament must be reconstructed. e even after that you shouldn't resume your practice soon after. because at this age 53,complete healing depends on other factors like diabetes ,hypertension and senile changes in body ...but you have to undergo surgery,
