Gallbladder stone

Asked for Male, 60 Years

My USG report showed 12mm gall bladder stone when my routine health check up. I have no problem due to this finding(silent stone). Now my query is that, will I undergo surgery to remove gallblader which is commonly done in such gallstone cases even if it does not cause any health issues at present. Kindly review my USG report and advise me further management.

A 12 mm gallbladder stone is present, but your ultrasound does not show features of acute inflammation, gallbladder wall thickening, or bile-duct obstruction. Since you are currently asymptomatic, surgery is generally not routinely required for an incidentally detected/silent gallstone. I would recommend discussing the findings with a general surgeon, who can consider your age, medical history and any risk factors before deciding on further management. Surgery is more commonly considered if symptoms such as recurrent right-upper abdominal pain, particularly after meals, or complications such as cholecystitis, jaundice or pancreatitis develop.
