Frozen shoulder is a layman's term. In scientific literature it is known as adhesive capsulitis of shoulder. It has 3 stages and each stage can last upto 6 months, if not treated properly with Physiotherapy. 5 important part of physiotherapy treatment in Frozen shoulder are as follows 1 Manual Therapy - To improve mobility of shoulder joint. This involves one on one manual therapy procedures with hands and belts. 2 Myofascial Release - This procedure works on muscles to improve the gliding ability of muscle tissues within the same muscles as well as between the adjoining muscles. 3 Pain management - Some pain inhibiting exercises are advised depending on available movement range. Heating pad / Cold pack is advised based on the findings of physical examination. 4 Active assisted exercises to improve the movement range. 5 Electrotherapy modalities like ultrasound laser is used to break the adhesions formed within the shoulder joint capsule in a pain-free way. IFT , TENS is for pain releif edema control, nerve pain management etc. Overall situation needs atleast 30 sessions of Physiotherapy. Your shoulder pain could be due to your sitting posture in office. You should check with your desk and chair height alignment. If you elevate your shoulder while placing your left hand on the desk for prolonged period then you may get pain on your shoulder. How did you confirm its a frozen shoulder?
Next Steps
You should give hot water fomentation twice a day for 15-20 minutes. You can use Volini gel or spray provided you are not allergic. If the pain persists or aggrevates you need to consult a Physiotherapist or Orthopaedist for further evaluation and treatment.
