My urine ACR level was 5.77 mg/g (Normal <30 mg/gm) on 18/05/2025 i.e just before starting Empagliflozin
Previously it was 2.84 mg/g on 4/4/2025
Serum creatinine, potassium, urea & usg are all within normal limits
Taking Empagliflozin 10 mg once a day since the last 20 days for blood sugar
Recently noticing foamy & frothy urine
Is it due to Empagliflozin ?

Hi,
You don't have to worry about UACR.
Now, empa is a good drug for various reasons.
It does not directly lead to frothy urine but it leads to loss of glucose in urine. That generally does not cause frothy urine.
Increase your water intake and see how it pans out over a couple of days

SGLT2 inhibitors like empagliflozin reduce intraglomerular pressure, which may initially unmask pre-existing proteinuria or mildly increase urinary albumin excretion in some individuals.
But in long term it is going to decrease proteinuria.
