Finally quit smoking
After so many attempts and online programmes, I've finally quit smoking. I've been a smoker on and off for the last 8 years and a regular one for the past 1 year. Once I've made up my mind, smoking does not feel pleasurable to me. But I've begun to realise the toll it has taken on my health. I have occasional shortness of breath, lethargy, tiredness and some cravings. I tried to start exercising while running but it was too much for my body so I am sticking to walking for a while. I'm still worried about the withdrawal effects though. What should I do to reclaim my health from now on?

Excellent work on stopping smoking. Thats your first step to loving your lungs. The after effects of smoking will show for the next few years. Smoking for 8 years or so and then expecting your body and lungs to jump back immediately to good health is unfair to your body. Keep working out, start slow , gradually increase the intensity. Do yoga breathing exercises to improve ling capacity. You can buy a spirometer to practice and exercise your lungs. Take vitamin supplements. It should slowly improve over the next 5 years. Kindly consult for supplement prescription and further queries. You are doing well. Continue with determination.

Patient's detailed medical history is required. It is recommended to consult a doctor professional through the Practo app or visit a local medical facility for a thorough evaluation. Please keep in mind that detailed medical history is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment.
