How to Reduce or Eliminate the Headache
1. Hydration
Drink plenty of water — dehydration worsens withdrawal symptoms.
Avoid excess caffeine and sugary drinks.
2. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)
If your headache is intense, consider gradual withdrawal using:
Nicotine gum or lozenges
Nicotine patches (steady release = fewer peaks/troughs)
This reduces withdrawal symptoms while you work on breaking the habit
3. OTC Pain Relievers (short-term)
Paracetamol or ibuprofen can help control the headache
Use for a few days during the worst withdrawal phase (typically first 3–7 days)
By Week 2, most withdrawal symptoms subside significantly
Headache during smoking withdrawal is a common symptom of nicotine dependence. It's a sign your body is adjusting to the absence of nicotine. While occasional pain relief can help, it's important to address the root cause through proper support.
I’d encourage you to consult for a personalized de-addiction plan. As a family physician, I can guide you through safer and more effective strategies to quit smoking comfortably. Please feel free to consult me on Practo for further support.

Health Tips
Helpful Tip:
Stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and try relaxation techniques like deep breathing or a short walk when a headache comes.
Word of Caution:
Self-medication may relieve symptoms temporarily but doesn’t address nicotine withdrawal fully. Proper medical guidance helps prevent relapse.
