Fever for 5 days with cough, body aches (back & shoulder), severe headache, dizziness, and marked weakness strongly suggests an acute viral infection (commonly viral flu / influenza-like illness).
However, severe headache + dizziness + inability to do daily activities are warning features that also raise concern for:
• Dengue / Chikungunya
• Typhoid
• COVID or post-viral complications
• Dehydration with electrolyte imbalance
At this stage, it should not be assumed to be “just viral” without evaluation.
Next Steps
Please do the following as soon as possible (today):
• Get basic tests:
• CBC with platelet count
• CRP
• Dengue NS1 / IgM
• Malaria test (if endemic area)
• COVID test if exposure/area risk
• Until reports:
• Paracetamol only for fever/headache (avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen)
• Good oral hydration (ORS, water, soups)
• Immediate medical review is needed if:
• Headache is worsening
• Persistent dizziness or vomiting
• Fever not settling after day 5–6
• Very low energy or confusion
Health Tips
• Avoid self-starting antibiotics
• Rest completely (no household chores)
• Cold sponging if fever >101°F
• Monitor temperature and hydration closely
⚠️ Because your symptoms are progressive and affecting daily function, I strongly recommend booking an online consultation with me so I can review symptoms in detail, guide investigations properly, and start targeted treatment early—this can prevent complications and speed up recovery.
