Identify the source of your fear (I know it may seem like your fear is fear of rejection, fear of failure or something like this but it is probably something else. For example, once I had a client that had phobia of spiders and within 6 minutes we found that the spider wasn't the cause of her phobia. The fear of spider was just a learned way for her to feel connected to her mother who had arachnophobia) Understand your fear (Just as I said before you need to understand how the fear is really playing out with you. You need to understand what are the benefits you are getting from this fear on a subconscious level, you need to understand if the fear is logical or emotional, based on past experiences or imagination, etc). Change your perspective (Once you understood your fear you will be able to see it from a different angle while keeping the benefits you used to get from the fear. I used to be really afraid of public speaking and avoided at any cost, today I love speaking in public and the main change I had was stop asking myself "What are others thinking about me?" and started to ask "How can I deliver my message in the best way possible?" Get resources (Now is the time, if you need, to learn what to do on that situation, take courses, read books, etc) Condition the change ( Now that you have courage and the resources needed for taking action is time for you to take action continuously to condition the change in your brain. It is best if you can use a technique that I borrowed from fitness called progressive overload. This basically means you should slowly increase the "challenge". Start with a small challenge and increase the difficulty of the challenge gradually. "Just" do it (Now is the time for you to take the action that you wanted confidence for. The good news is that now you are confident because you've developed your courage and competence so you will naturally be thinking positively about the situation, it won't need to be a forced positive thinking like most people do because you already KNOW you can do that because you've done similar things before). You are having one of the anxiety disorder. You need anxiolytics and SSRIs. That will give relief quickly. Consult a psychiatrist. Till then do breathing exercises.... Muscular relaxation techniques.
