Hello Doctors, last month I have tested diabetic with fasting blood sugar of 309 and then doctor prescribed me one tablet daily and today I tested my fasting blood sugar and it is 136. Can you please help me understand is it normal or what should be the values for diabetics? Like fbs and post meal? Thank you

Your current fasting sugar of 136 after starting treatment is a good improvement from 309, showing that your medicine and lifestyle are helping. For a person with diabetes, the general goal is a fasting blood sugar between 80 and 130 mg/dL and a post-meal (2 hours after eating) level below 180 mg/dL. These values keep long-term complications under control while avoiding low sugar. Continue taking your prescribed tablet regularly, eat early dinners, include more vegetables and protein, and walk daily for at least 30 -45 minutes. Avoid sweets, fried food, and excess rice. Recheck fasting, post-meal, and HbA1c every 3 months to monitor progress. You are moving in the right direction. Keep up the consistency.
