Facial asymmetry due to TMJ
I hear clicking sounds from my mouth. Also lately my face is becoming asymmetrical. Orthodontist gave me a TMJ splint. But that seems to have worsened my face. Also the splint also makes it hard for me to chew food normally as after wearing it my mouth closes in a different position. What to do now?

Hello. The splint given to you must be deprogramming splint. This splints usually helps to allow jaws and muscles to work in synchronization and deprogram the set neuromuscular pattern. There are chances it might worsen your assymetry but it is important to get your ideal centric relation. So don't worry usually in TMD and clicking and other tmj problem we frequently use it. Off course other treatments to treat assymetry and dental relationship has to follow once this phase is over.
