Extracting all 4 teeths.
Hello, male-23. I've protrusion and my orthodontist asked me to extract 4 pre molars, 2 on upper jaw. 2 on lower. I've already extracted 2 on upper jaw. But I'm skeptical about extracting 2 on lower jaw, lower jaw looks fine and straight.. I don't want to extract bottom ones. Is there any alternatives to achieve same results? Also after a week after upper jaw pre molar extraction, my jaw is sore and i feel like I've TMD. Is extraction safe? Also I've seen posts were patients confirm they've been affected with TMD and sleep apnea Because of extraction as there will be less space for tongue. Please help.

i think you depend on social media alot . extraction of 4 premolars is the treatment done before ortho for decades. definitely after exrtraction it takes time to heal for proper correction of protruded teeth , extractions are required and since you already got upper removed , dont worry and go ahead with lower extractions
Next Steps
show to treating dentist and tell him/her that you have difficulties after tooth removal . he/she will treat you accordingly
Health Tips
rinse with warm saline , 3-4 times per day

Extraction of tooth during orthodontic treatment is quite common. For proper results it is advisable to extract some teeth. But still if have concern please attach photographs of your teeth. After extraction their may be some kind of pain and discomfort but they will be resolved with time. Consult doctor online or offline for more treatment options.

Hi. Extraction of teeth (esp premolars) is advocated quite routinely in orthodontic treatment. Im sure your orthodontist would have taken several records and x-rays to come up with your treatment plan and that's the reason he has recommended extraction. If you still have concern, pls attach your photographs. Pain or soreness at the extraction site after the procedure is common. Does not have to be a TMD.
Next Steps
Pls do not check online, other people's post and base your symptoms on it.
