Disc bulge
I am. 20 years old and my disc between l4 and l5 is bulging outside due to dead lift . It started 5 months back and I thought it was just a normal back pain but due to heavy work during my sisters marriage the pain increased tremendously and now I am not able to walk and I can't even sit with a good posture. I have consulted many doctors and they confirmed that they have to cut the disc out . ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS , WHETHER IT CAN BE CURED WITHOUT SURGEY?if yes, how? And if not suggest which kind of surgery I should go for ( endoscopic, open micro surgery and another) and will the surgery affect me in my future

Your history is suggestive of a lateral or central disc prolapse . However I cannot comment further unless I clinically examine you and perform neurological tests and see your dynamic MRI scan of the lumbar spine. There are several modalities which can be employed prior to surgery unless there is a disc or spine compromise which is imminent or has already taken place , in which case an urgent surgery is required. Please make an appointment with me in any of my clinics Face to Face at either Doctors’s hub Sector 109 Gurugram or Your Pain clinic

Based on the clinical history mentioned- 1.Chronic history of back pain(slipped disc-5months old) 2. Current episode is acute suggestive of acute on chronic kind of nature 3. Functionally disabled( not able to sit or walk)
Next Steps
1.To assess if there is any Neurological deficit( weakness/ Paralysis of foot) ,loss of Bladder control - if present, then not to wait go ahead for the procedure 2. If no weakness/ paralysis- and slipped disc not that significant can try conservative modalities like injection treatment 3. For type of surgery- Decision is based upon clinical examination  and MRI finding
