With Type 2 diabetes in early pregnancy (8 weeks) and a low haemoglobin level of 8.3 g/dL, your diet needs to carefully balance blood sugar control while improving iron status, along with overall pregnancy nutrition. Here is what you can do: - Choose complex carbs such as whole wheat, oats, millets, brown rice, and legumes in controlled portions. Avoid refined sugar, sweets, juices, and bakery items to prevent sugar spikes. - Include green leafy vegetables (spinach, amaranth, methi), lentils, chickpeas, rajma, soybean, beetroot, dates, and jaggery in moderation. If non-vegetarian, add eggs, fish, and lean meat, which provide better-absorbed iron. - Pair iron-rich foods with vitamin C sources like lemon, amla, guava, or orange. Avoid tea or coffee around meals, as they reduce iron absorption. - Ensure sufficient protein from dals, curd, milk, eggs, tofu, and lean meats to support fetal growth and stabilise blood sugars.
