Dear human, thank you for sharing and reaching out. I assure you that you have done the right thing by reaching out and have taken a significant step towards your mental health journey. I can understand that what you’re going through must be very difficult. I highly recommend that you seek therapy and work towards your mental well being with the guidance of a mental health professional. Through therapy, you’ll learn to cope better with life difficulties and stresses and be able to live a more fulfilling life. In the meanwhile, I have a few suggestions for you that you should try to manage your condition: 1. Relaxation- if your mind is preoccupied you will have sleep trouble; focus on how you can calm and relax your mind. Listen to affirmations daily morning after waking up and before going to bed. 2. Yoga and Meditation: basic yoga stretches, breathing exercises and meditation before sleep can certainly help you relax your body and clear your mind. You can use apps for guided meditation. 3. 5-4-3-2-1 exercise: Whenever you feel like you’re getting into the spiral of overthinking or you feel stressed out, take few slow and deep breaths and name five things in your environment that you can see, four things that you can hear, three things that you can touch, two things that you can smell and one thing you can taste. 4. Journaling- writing or drawing your thoughts and feelings helps you vent and externalize. Everytime you find yourself overthinking, pen down your thoughts as they come to you. This way, you’ll be able to distance yourself from your problems. 5. Speaking to someone- I understand that it’s not easy to talk about your worries, but by speaking to someone you trust and love about thoughts of taking your life can help. Building a support system and surrounding yourself with good people will be helpful. 6. Healthy lifestyle- Your mood is also connected with your diet, and eating well will help regulate your mood and keep your body organs in check. Also, try and exercise a little bit every day. 7. Family troubles - Try to focus on things that are in your control to manage your family issues. Set boundaries whenever necessary. Hope this helps :) Take care!

Hello! Thank you for reaching out. We can only imagine what it must be to be in your place. Family and family issues can be very emotional and difficult to deal with and we understand how they must be causing you worried nights. Your concern is completely understandable. It sounds like these incidents have affected you on a deep emotional level. We wish to assure you that being emotional is not something that is wrong. Emotions help us to understand what we are feeling and that helps us to make sense of the situation around us. Insomnia- or inability to sleep could be a large indicator of something deeper. Additionally, the fact that you are also undergoing a lot of physical and hormonal shifts could be causing distress. In such situations, it is always better to seek professional help, which will allow you to safely express and aid in releasing your emotional burden. Going to a professional will allow you the space to invest in yourself- rather than suffering alone. In the meantime, as you approach therapy, we would like to suggest you to practise mindfulness based activities to you which would help you to calm yourself down. You could additionally practice meditative activities or energising exercising that could help you during this time. You could also find support in writing or journaling down your thoughts. This will also help you to challenge your perception of the situation. Additionally, you could also try establishing a sleep routine- one that asks you to engage in calming and relaxing exercises atleast one hour before bed. You could set up some peaceful music, colour or read, or even engage in some self-care acts like taking a warm bath, hydrating yourself, skincare among others. Doing this mindfully, that is- focusing on the task and in the moment- will help you to feel more like yourself. However- we would also recommend that if this is something you struggle with and you feel like its getting too much for you to deal with alone- we would recommend you to please reach out to professional mental health practitioners from organisations or independent set ups for the same if you need emotional support!
