1. Be conscious of where in your body the anxiety comes from. Concentrate on the certain body part where you feel the anxiety and hold your attention there until the anxiety disappears. For example, the tension could reside in your neck or stomach. To reduce anxiety, do this step for 5 to 10 minutes. 2. Keep yourself busy. If you are just sitting or lying around doing nothing, chances are you will think about your worries. That is not a good way of how to reduce anxiety. Instead, you may spend your time doing something, may it be reading a book, cleaning your room, or doing the dishes. You may also meditate to ward off your anxious thoughts. 3. Exercise regularly. Workouts can help you prevent anxiety from taking control over your life. Simple exercises such as yoga and walking are great in reducing anxiety. 4. Help yourself by helping others. Direct your anxiety into a positive action-you will definitely thank yourself for it later on. Helping others can help you shift your attention from your anxiety to what you are doing. 5. Think positively. Have faith-if you believe that things will turn out for the better, it will be easier for you to overcome your condition. Thinking positively is one of the most recommended ways of how to reduce anxiety. 6. Talk to someone. Isn't it comforting to share a conversation with someone? Meet up with friends, engage your family in a light discussion, and have a chat with someone important to you. That way, you focus your thoughts on things other than your anxiety. 7. Keep a "thank you" journal. In your journal, list three to five things that you are thankful for every day. Is it the sweet note that your child left on the fridge? Is it the smile from a stranger whom you have helped? Is it the fine weather? Whatever has made you happy, put that in writing. This can be a good therapy that trains you on how to reduce anxiety because your thoughts focus more on the positive things rather than the anxious thoughts. 8. Have a hearty laugh. Don't be afraid to loosen up. In fact, laughter is a great way to reduce anxiety as it keeps you from feeling miserable and worrying too much. So sit down and watch a funny TV show or movie. Do everything that makes you laugh, no matter how silly it is. 9. Cut down on your caffeine intake. The last thing that your body needs is a stimulant, which can worsen your anxiety. So drink less coffee and soda that's how to reduce anxiety. 10. Relax. A relaxing spa or massage reduces not only tension but also anxiety. That is why it pays to allow some time for relaxation.

Hi, I am sorry that you feel this way. Feeling down is ok too. We have to only figure out what is it that you are resisting in the feeling down. We might have to learn how to honour our emotional cycles to learn to flow with them and not numb ourselves from them.

Unhappy childhood where parents (or other significant people such as teachers) were extremely critical. Poor academic performance in school resulting in a lack of confidence. Ongoing stressful life event such as relationship breakdown or financial trouble.

Hi... Please take Counselling sessions on weekly basis to address your issues - depression, work stress, children study needs, etc. I believe lot of issues are piling up and working as stressors in your mind. You need a safe place not only to vent out your feelings but to help you find better insights and guide you on how to improve on your concerns. Psychotherapy/Counselling is the best way to address such issues.
