Delayed Teething
Hello Doctor, My baby girl is 13 months. My paediatrician says she is teething since 6 months however I do not see her teeth anywhere. Due to lockdown we are unable to see doctor. I was not worried earlier but now I am really worried. Please tell me if it is a matter of worry if my LO do not have single teeth at this age? Also her vaccine for 12th month is due. So please suggest what shall we do as due to lockdown we are avoiding going out anywhere. Please suggest. Regards, Shruti

If any child don’t have any tooth at completed 13 months of age needs investigation Specially hypothyroidism is a serous concern. Vit D deficiency per se don’t lead to delayed eruption So please visit your doctor with the concern I raised

You should consult for this problem personally and make sure if it is not because of some deficiency which needs medication. Vaccination can be done  either now  or  after lockdown .

Delayed dentition could be due to calcium and vitamin D deficiency. Get the levels checked. And the 1 year vaccine can be delayed for a couple of weeks till lockdown period is over

Teething has stages of teeth formation & eruption. You see teeth when they erupt which occasionally can occur even at about 16 to 18 months. Vaccination can be given later after lockdown.

I think you should get the child properly examined for vitamin d deficiency and other problems which cause delayed teething as delay in teething after 14 months is not normal.

Dear parents, Delay in teething means 1vit D deficiency. 2inadequate energy uptake. Both can be overcome. According to me stop milk from 8amto8pm and give semisolid diet like Dal,dalia, khicdi alu kela rice, apple, upama, halwa, patolia, rab, kadi idle poha satu custard etc and from 80pmto8am give mother milk is preferable if not give top milk Withoutwater and add sugar as per your taste. To start with stop milk for 4hrs for 15days and give semisolid diet next 15days stop milk for 8hrs and give semisolid diet lastly stop milk from 8amto8pm and give semisolid diet l. For your knowledge 100ml milk gives 70calories of energy 100ml juices give 55calories of energy and 100gm of semisolid diet gives 350calories of energy. Can supplement with Vit d3 sachet weekly for 4 weeks.

The first teeth can appear anytime between 6months to eighteen months..so dont worry..however stimulate her gums by massaging or giving carrots or soupsticks to chew on carefully without the risk of aspiration.as for her vaccine u can wait for another couple of weeks
