Three years of persistent dandruff strongly suggests seborrheic dermatitis — a chronic scalp condition driven by an overgrowth of a naturally occurring yeast (Malassezia). Moving to Greater Noida with its pollution, hard water, humidity changes, and stress can definitely trigger or worsen this condition. Shaving the hair does not treat the underlying problem; the dandruff will return if the scalp is not treated. Start using a medicated antifungal shampoo containing Ketoconazole 2% (e.g., Nizral) — use it twice a week, lather and leave it on the scalp for 5 minutes before rinsing. Continue for at least 4–6 weeks. Avoid hot water on the scalp, reduce oily hair products, and manage stress. If there is itching, redness, or thick flakes not improving after 4–6 weeks, a dermatologist can prescribe a topical steroid or a stronger antifungal treatment.
Next Steps
See a Dermatologist for proper evaluation and prescription treatment if ketoconazole shampoo alone does not control it in 4–6 weeks. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

Use ketoconazole shampoo thrice weekly. Cover your hair while travelling in pollution. Clean your comb and don't share it with others. Adequate hydration If this doesn't help, seek a dermatologist help to rule out other causes.

Use a ketoconazole 2% shampoo 2–3 times a week for 4 weeks. Apply it to the scalp, leave it on for 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Health Tips
* avoid excessive oil application on the scalp if dandruff is active. * Avoid scratching the scalp, as it can worsen inflammation and increase the risk of infection.
