It is always recommended to put a crown over rct treated tooth especially if its one of the teeth at the back, since post rct the tooth becomes brittle and the filling us usually not sufficiently strong to support the tooth. If you even bite on something like a popcorn kernel it may fracture the tooth and unnecessarily you may have to get it extracted.

It’s not necessary to put a crown over a root canal treated tooth. It depends on the amount of tooth structure left and the load the tooth will bear. Front teeth seldom need crowns, back teeth may need depending on the tooth structure remaining. You can opt for inlays or onlays to be minimally invasive.
Yes crown is necessary for back teeth.
You can avoid in front teeth but not in back teeth because they are needed for chewing & more pressure during chewing can break the rct treated tooth
It depends on the tooth location and load on the tooth. If it's a badly broken back tooth yes. If it s a front tooth sometimes you can avoid provided the procedure was done correctly.
My suggestion is to take an opinion from your root canal specialist to help decide if it's an absolute must
Yes it is compulsory . After RCT the tooth becomes fragile as we open it to clean the canals of the tooth . So to protect the tooth from further damage it is necessary to put a crown after RCT
