It's known as crepitus or creaky joints. Crepitus is a first indication of patellofemoral osteoarthritis . In most cases, crepitus will improve without the need for medical treatment. Applying ice to the area will usually be enough to alleviate your pain and inflammation. If doesn't then some painkillers will be needed.
