Continuous ankle pain since 7 days
My mother is having pain in her left ankle since 7 days. We had her tested for uric acid but that's also not the reason. Please suggest something.

Hello dear First of all ankle pain due a raised uric acid is not common at all. Ankle pain in itself could be due to a number of reasons. You need to give more detailed history for me to ascertain the cause: 1. Is the pain present at rest or only while walking? 2. Is there any swelling ? (Compare from other leg) 3. Does she have pain, swelling in any other joint ? 4. When did she stop her periods? 5. Does she have any medical problems and if she is on any treatment? 6. Has she had any x-ray? If yes i would want to see? For the time being i can only say that she needs to be screened properly. Please get back to me with the relevant history as asked. Regards Dr Vipin Gupta
