Communication problem in 3 yr old child

Asked for Female, 3 Years

My neice is 30 months old and she is not communicating with people. She is able to memorize and repeat rhymes, identifies alphabets and numbers. But not responding to her name or communicates with others. What could be the problem? How to improve her communication?

The first step is to rule out treatable causes,most importantly in this case,hearing. Get it checked by BAER/BERA. If normal,consider other causes like autism,easily diagnosed by a trained professional like your paediatrician or a psychologist.
