Cauda equina syndrome results from compression of the nerves which supply bowel/bladder/private parts. The recovery is very variable and is dependant on how big the disc was, The amount of compression and also the duration for which the nerves were compressed before surgery was done. Recovery can happen up to 18months but it is very variable and unpredictable. The only thing to do is to wait and see. If there is any issue with bowel or bladder you will need to see a Urologist and a general surgeon as well.
