My son is 16 years old. He experienced chest pain 20 days ago, but all medical tests came back normal. Now, he is having strange dreams and suffering from panic attacks accompanied by fear and anxiety; he is even fainting and collapsing. Please tell me what the problem might be.

In a 16-year-old with normal cardiac tests, chest pain is very rarely from the heart; it is usually musculoskeletal (costochondritis), acid reflux, or, as the picture here strongly suggests, panic attacks with anticipatory anxiety. The fear of collapsing and the strange dreams fit an anxiety and disturbed-sleep cycle rather than a dangerous illness, and reassuring him with that explanation is itself part of the treatment.
Next Steps
When a 16-year-old has chest pain with normal cardiac and other tests, and the episodes come with sudden fear, panic and a feeling of collapsing, this most often points to an anxiety/panic disorder rather than heart disease. That does not make the symptoms any less real - the body's stress response genuinely produces chest tightness, palpitations and breathlessness.
Health Tips
Please have him reviewed in person by a physician with his reports, and consider an assessment by a psychiatrist/counsellor for panic attacks - counselling and breathing techniques help a great deal, and medication is added only if needed. Keep a regular sleep routine, avoid caffeine and energy drinks, and encourage daily exercise. Seek emergency care if chest pain is severe, lasts long, or he actually faints. You may consult me on Practo or visit me at Synergy Multispeciality Hospital, Miraj.
If you like, you can consult me with his previous reports and prescription we can go through the symptoms carefully, understand the cause and decide whether any further evaluation or treatment is actually needed.
According to his neuropsychiatrist he is suffering from anxiety and depression with mood fluctuations.kidneyliver function tests and eeg ecg normal
I think it is better to show a clinical psychologist and have psycho therapy also,He can talk about the underlying problems to someone and get relief in addition to the medication the doc had given him
