About the weight gain there needs to be a proper amount of consuming nuts so that you take the correct amount for not gaining weight
Ideally nuts( almonds,walnuts,pista, hazelnut etc) are most Nutritious foods in our diet.
Its a bundle of vitamin,minerals and protein. The right time to take them is the in snacking but if you have to combine it with food we have to look at your recall and understand your intake.
