Hi. Usually every clinician autoclaves his/her instruments once used. But if you knew that a used instrument was being used on you, you could have stopped him/her. On the other hand the dentist might have changed the instruments and you might not have noticed (the basic instruments look alike). Regarding HIV/AIDS. it is possible to acquire Hiv through used instruments. But for that to happen, the patient prior to you should have that infection.. hiv won't magically appear out of thin air. Hiv is not the ot infection that you need to be concerned about. There are host of other communicable diseases that you can get.
Next Steps
Ask for fresh instruments whenever you go to any clinic.
Health Tips
UV chamber is not a guarantee of sterilization. Instrument kept in disposable sleeves with proper markers showing sterilization colour codes can almost guarantee sterilization

Yes HIV can be transmitted by dentist tools. But nowadays none of the responsible dentist would use any unsterilised tool on anyone. But still if you have any doubt you can ask your dentist to disclose his/her sterilization procedure for instruments used and the dentist will be happy to explain his/her procedure as it is your right to know about it. It is really appreciated that you are aware of all the things. The best way to get your worries resolved is to have a HIV test. You can have it done at your nearest hospital and the test is confidential so your name will not be disclosed to anyone. There are also home kits available for the test but I suggest you to go for lab results.
Next Steps
Consult a physician and tell him about your worries and ask for the time for HIV test.
