Bronchitis is chronic when there is persistent inflammation of airways causing continuous sputum production, which may occasionally be blood tinged. It is usually associated with air way obstruction causing wheezing and breathlessness. You need to take bronchodilator and mucolytic on a long term basis while avoiding dust, cold air and cigarette smoking.
