My father was diagnosed with acute bronchitis on January 2020, he is 55 years old and a diabetic. Was hospitalized and put under medication. After discharge he was instructed to use an inhaler called "Foracort 400" daily 2 puffs a day morning and evening which gradually reduced to 1 puff a day morning and evening within 2 months. Which he still continues to date since he was asked to use it daily. Should he continue with the inhaler and if so is there any side effects.

he should use it, side effects at such low doses are minimal. before stopping it consult your pulnonologist for his pulmonary function test and clinic status.if he thinks doses can further be reduced then only reduce them.
For acute bronchitis the inhalers not to be used so long. His diagnosis must be chronic bronchitis or COPD.
In COPD patients inhalers are to be used throughout life. Inhalers are the best available medicines for COPD.
Only minor side effects with prolonged use.
He may require different inhaler now.
